Chuck and Gigi Bolton opened the first Austin location of True Rest Float Spa.[/caption] For the uninitiated, flotation therapy involves getting into a tank about the size of a small car and lying in 10 inches of skin-temperature water and 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt. The process is supposed to induce a feeling of weightlessness and mindfulness, which proponents say can help with relaxation and recovery from injury. Texas natives Gigi and Chuck Bolton said they were living in Arizona when they first tried the therapy. The couple said they were hooked, and on May 10 they opened True Rest Float Spa. “We both love the idea of helping people, and this was something we could do together,” Gigi said. Hourlong floats at True Rest cost $79. Monthly memberships, which include free use of True Rest’s oxygen bar, range from $59-$180. Chuck said the sensation of floating can induce slower brain wave patterns and allow one’s brain and body to rest in an almost zero-gravity state. “It’s as close to being at zero gravity without being in an anti-gravity chamber,” Chuck said.
