1. Intersection improvements
Austin City Council approved an Advance Funding Agreement on June 23 with the Texas Department of Transportation to provide $1.8 million worth of safety improvements to four intersections, including at
(a) North Lamar Boulevard and Rundberg Lane and at
(b) Lamar and Parmer Lane. Projects will include constructing raised medians and raised right-turn channelized islands; modifying existing medians; restriping; adding crosswalks and signs; and installing pedestrian hybrid beacons.

2. MoPac frontage roads resurfacing
In June, TxDOT began a project to resurface the MoPac frontage roads from Parmer Lane to Waters Park Road.

3. US 183 frontage roads resurfacing
On May 9, TxDOT began resurfacing the frontage roads of US 183 from Anderson Mill Road to Spicewood Springs Road/McNeil Drive.

4. I-35 main lanes repaving
TxDOT will resurface the I-35 main lanes from Wells Branch Parkway to Rundberg Lane. The project will be bid upon in November.

5. New sidewalks near Barrington Elementary School
As part of the city of Austin’s Quarter Cent Fund program, the city will build sidewalks near Barrington Elementary School in North Austin on Shepard Drive, North Drive and Carpenter Avenue. Funding for the QCF comes from Capital Metro revenue originally slated to go toward light rail in 2000. Projects funded by the QCF are located within 1/4 mile of a school and transit stop and are designed to enhance safety, provide access to schools and support transit.

6. I-35 maintenance
TxDOT requested bids for a maintenance contract in April to perform pavement repairs on the I-35 main lanes and frontage roads from Riverside Drive to Wells Branch Parkway. Construction is expected to take a couple of months to complete once the project begins.

7. Pump station utility improvements
The city of Austin is making improvements to the
(a) Spicewood Springs Pump Station on Mesa Drive that will affect area traffic. Work began June 15 to install a new water line near the pump station and on Mesa and Spicewood Lane. Traffic control was set up June 20, and work will take eight months. On June 28, the city began installing a new water line on
(b) Far West Boulevard also as part of the project, and work will take five months. The entire project will be complete next summer.
