Blue Starlite Drive-In is planning a soft opening for a tiki-themed North Austin location with a screening of Ferris Bueller's Day Off on Feb. 18.

Located in the parking lot of Garbo's Fresh Maine Lobster at 12709 N. Mopac, Austin, customers will be able to enjoy Blue Starlite's lineup of classic and modern movies alongside dinner from the seafood restaurant and dessert from Connor's Creamery, its adjoining ice cream truck.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Blue Starlite,” said Heidi Garbo, owner of Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster, in a Feb. 4 release. “We have always wanted to find a use for the adjacent parking lot, and this couldn’t be a better fit."

At its North Austin location, Blue Starlite will have a main screen to show new Hollywood releases and a smaller screen for New Independent Art House features. This is Blue Starlite's fourth location.

"It is a cool location—isolated, but very near to the neighborhoods of our North Austin patrons. It’s the type of space I am always looking for, and Garbo’s has already created an attractive scene within their venue that the Blue Starlite can greatly complement," Blue Starlite founder Josh Frank said in the release. "I believe it will bring together a lot of people who can have an all-in-one night between both venues, and I think folks in the area are simply going to love it."
