Austin ISD will celebrate the opening of its newest modernized campus in Northwest Austin on March 31 with a virtual ceremony held at 8:30 a.m.

Murchison Middle School, located at 3700 N. Hills Drive, Austin, received $25.3 million in renovations through the $1 billion bond program approved by district voters in 2017. According to the district, the modernized campus includes a new wing for sixth grade, a new media center and new administrative offices.

The project, which broke ground in May 2019, will also expanded the campus's capacity from 1,113 students to 1,700.

Murchison Middle School Principal Beth Newton will speak during the virtual grand opening ceremony, and AISD will highlight some of the new features at the school in a video.
