The Round Rock ISD board of trustees unanimously voted to extend the contract for Superintendent Steve Flores through 2022 in a specially called meeting Nov. 8.

Flores' contract was extended by a year and will now expire June 30, 2022, with a salary of $301,190. Flores joined RRISD in October 2013.

“I appreciate the board of trustees’ unanimous vote of confidence, and I am excited about what the future holds for Round Rock ISD," Flores said. "This is truly a special place, and it is my honor to serve the amazing students, dedicated staff and faculty, and engaged and caring parents of this district."

The extension came two days after RRISD voters passed a $508 million bond package Nov. 6.

“We are thankful to the voters of Round Rock ISD for their participation in the election and especially for the support we’ve received from the community,” Flores said Nov. 6. “In Round Rock ISD we are committed to putting students first, creating world-class educational experiences and building on our reputation as a destination district. With the passage of this bond we will be able to meet the needs of our growing population, enhance safety on our campuses and modernize aging facilities to ensure equity across the district.”

RRISD voters also elected three newcomers and one incumbent to the board of trustees. Amber Feller, Cory Vessa, Amy Weir and Steve Math will be sworn in after the district canvasses the election returns, according to RRISD.
