In 2016, 19 Asian restaurants opened in Northwest Austin, far more than any other type of cuisine. The area also saw 15 American and eight Italian restaurants.*

Here are six notable dining announcements from 2016 and what the restaurants have in store for 2017:

1. 3 Train Pizzeria
In 2016 the restaurant began serving pepperoni rolls; calzones; and salad pockets, which are similar to pitas, made from pizza dough and loaded with toppings. The restaurant also began serving wine in 2016.

2. P. Terry's Burger Stand
Success of the burger chain’s location on US 183 near Oak Knoll Drive led owner Patrick Terry to plan the new Northwest Austin location that is also closer to Cedar Park.

3. 2N1 Salad Bar & Grill
Co-owners Carlos Chan and Lorena Alcaraz have been adding new menu items since the opening, such as grilled salmon or chicken served with steamed vegetables ($8-$10) and a salad of the day.

4. 24 Diner
ELM Restaurant Group expects to open the new location in October at 3100 Esperanza Crossing, Ste. 100, Austin. The company said the Rock Rose district restaurant will be larger in size than the original 24 Diner and will utilize similar design elements.

5. Modern Market
Boulder, Colorado-based restaurant Modern Market entered the Northwest Austin area in summer 2016 and announced expansion plans to bring additional locations to Westlake and Central Austin later in 2017.

6. JuiceLand
JuiceLand opens its newest location Feb. 1 at 13096 N. US 183, Bldg. A, Austin. This location brings the company’s total number of stores to 20, with three in Northwest Austin.
