1. Williamson County home sales prices drop 12% from 2022

While the median taxable value of homes in Williamson County rose around 10% year over year, the median sales valuation of homes dropped about 12%. On March 31, county staff mailed appraisal notices to 238,244 homes throughout Williamson County.

County data states the previous year-over-year comparison from 2021 to 2022 showed home sales prices increased in sales by 45%.

2. Hope Medical Clinic receives $100K to expand services to Austin's underserved communities

Hope Medical Clinic will use new funds from Austin Public Health to increase its health care and education services, focusing on the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

The clinic, located in Northeast Austin, received $100,000 to use over a 12-month term, which began April 1. The agreement also allows an extension option for another 12 months.

Hope Clinic provides free primary health care to underserved communities residing in the Austin area. These range from giving prescription and over-the-counter medications to treating chronic diseases and doing basic lab work.

3. Austin ISD considers 'aggressive' compensation increase that could cause $65.6 M shortfall

On April 27, during an Austin ISD board meeting, Chief Financial Officer Eduardo Ramos and Chief of Human Capital Brandi Hosack presented potential compensation plans for the 2022-23 academic year.

The board will learn more about the plans during its May informational meeting and approve the budget in June.


Hosack said the staff and Education Austin, Austin ISD’s union, came to an agreement on the “most aggressive” scenario. The plan will have to be approved by the board.

4. Angela Ronzoni’s Pizzeria uses custom recipes to hand-make meals

It took more than a decade for Angie and Ron Diaz to see their idea come to fruition, but finally the couple has a space to show off Ron’s recipes.


In 2008, the Diaz family wanted to open a pizza place in Nevada, but they were not able to find a space, so they decided to go into the food truck business before moving to Texas and opening Perky Beans Coffee & PB Cafe in Leander. Now, the pair is revisiting their original plan by opening Angela Ronzoni’s Pizzeria in late January.

“It was always supposed to be pizza,” Ron said. “I just like pizza and Italian food, and that’s what I wanted to do.”

5. Here’s what Austin voters need to know for the May 6 election


Early voting for Austin’s May 6 election, which has two police oversight measures on the ballot, started April 24. Here’s what you need to know.

Early voting is open Mondays-Saturdays from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sundays from noon-6 p.m.

Residents may cast their ballot at any polling location in the county in which they are registered to vote. This means residents in the Travis County portion of the area must vote at a Travis County polling place, and residents in Williamson County must vote at a Williamson County location.
