The start of summer vacation for many families is just around the corner. Here are five things to know this week if you live in Northwest Austin. 1. City of Austin offices are closed for Memorial Day. Although city administrative offices and municipal facilities will be closed Monday, trash, recycling and yard trimmings collection will remain on schedule. Capital Metro transit services operate on a Sunday schedule for Memorial Day. 2. Northwest Austin seniors will be graduating this week. The three school districts in the area are hosting ceremonies June 1-3. Austin and Pflugerville ISDs will have graduation at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Round Rock ISD ceremonies are at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. 3. Children can get free meals this summer beginning June 5. As part of the Summer Food Service Program, children in Austin can receive free breakfast, lunch and snacks at Austin ISD schools and area apartment complexes. 4. A Round Rock ISD trustee announced he will resign. On Friday, Paul Tisch confirmed he is submitting his resignation because his job is taking him to College Station. 5. Uber and Lyft resume operations in Austin on Monday. Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to sign House Bill 100 into law on Monday, establishing statewide regulations for ride-hailing companies and stripping away local ordinances, such as those the city of Austin enacted in December 2015. Both companies confirmed Thursday to Community Impact Newspaper they will resume operations immediately.
