The backstory
Owner Leo Zhu opened the business in 2023 after relocating to Texas from Chicago. Zhu previously owned a separate cabinet business in Chicago before the move.
He said he’s always been interested in the cabinet business, as it was a family endeavor he learned about from a young age.
“When I was still young...my dad, he was an installer too,” Zhu said. “He showed me a lot of stuff and then I learned a lot from him. That's why I love the cabinet and countertop business.”
In the several years he’s been in the industry, Zhu said the popular items have changed throughout the years. Before his move to Texas, he said most homebuyers were in the market for marble and granite.
“Right now, quartz is the most popular,” Zhu said. “It’s easier to maintain, not like a natural stone. We sell 85-90% quartz.”

The store has two teams of three people available for the installation of a customer’s purchase.
When he first launched the business, Zhu helped with the installation of cabinets and countertops, but as the demand for business has increased, he now focuses on the design aspect of the materials.
To start the process, clients can stop by the business showroom to receive a free consultation, get free measurements with custom 3D-designed models of the client’s desired design and schedule an appointment for installation.
Pricing is based on the material chosen and ranges from $38-$120 per square foot.
Depending on the availability of the client’s desired materials, Zhu and his team can complete installation within 7-10 business days. However, if clients are interested in a special material, the project can take up to a month for completion.

Zhu said the main way he grows his clientele is through word of mouth and positive recommendations from current customers.
“The only thing you can do is just be patient and then answer your customers’ questions,” Zhu said. “They will bring you more customers. That's how your business can get successful.”
Zhu said he hopes to grow the business by opening a second location in South Austin next year. He said about 30% of his customers are from South Austin and the rest are from North Austin.
