Gardner Metal Recycling closed their South Austin location at 8140 S. Congress Ave. The family-owned metal recycling business is relocating to Northeast Austin at 9701 U.S. Hwy. 290 East Service Road, off the Johnny Morris Road/Giles Lane exit. The new facility is now open.

Gardner Metal Recycling first opened in Austin on East Fourth Street over 60 years ago and has since offered different scrap metal recycling services to commercial, industrial and individual customers.

The new facility is larger and will expand processing capacity and recycling opportunities for the community, according to a press release.

Gardner Metal Recycling offers pickup and drop-off services, and handles a variety of materials such as copper, aluminum, brass and stainless steel.

"We are very excited to begin the next phase of our journey here in East Austin. It's interesting that we have come full circle back to this side of town,” said Andy Johnson, president and chief operating officer of Gardner Metal Recycling, in a press release. “We are grateful that we have been able to grow as a business over these many years.”
