The Asian American Resource Center is continuing its public input process with for its new master plan with another set of meetings planned throughout the month of January.

AARC will host a meeting for the general public on Jan. 31 at the center from 6 to 8 p.m.

Throughout the month the center hosts small group meetings for various members of the community as listed below.

Seniors and Recreational Intergenerational Community Education (RICE) members - 10-11:30 a.m., Jan. 14-17

Artists and creatives - 6:30-8:30 p.m., Jan. 17

Renters and community room users - 6:30-8:30 p.m., Jan. 24

Collaborators and partners - 1-2:30 p.m., Jan. 25

Residents can provide input on updates planned for the Asian American Resource Center at 8401 Cameron Road, Austin at a community meeting Dec. 11.

The center, which just celebrated its fifth birthday in October, is in the process of creating a new master plan that will define goals for improvements to the existing building, parking, accessibility, landscaping and design elements in addition to plans for new programming and facilities, according to a news release from the center.

In addition to providing suggestions for improvements to the center, attendees can learn about the design and goal-setting process for development of the master plan, the release stated.

The meeting takes place at the Asian American Resource Center from 6-8 p.m. and includes light refreshments and kid-friendly activities.

To request a language-interpreter, residents can call 311 no later than five days prior to the meeting.

Other opportunities to provide input


The Dec. 11 meeting is the first of a series of public meetings however dates for future meetings are not set yet, according to the release.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department also plans to host small-group discussions to collect input on the process. To participate in a small group discussion, interested attendees can send an e-mail to [email protected].

The Asian American Resource Center has also compiled an online survey to collect input at www.speakupaustin.org/aarcmp-update.
