THURSDAY


1. Share your thoughts about the city's budget
Next week Austin's interim city manager will present the initial budget for fiscal year 2018. City Council will deliberate for the next six weeks and finalize the budget in mid-September. District 10 City Council Member Alison Alter invites the community to share its thoughts on how the city should spend tax dollars. The District 10 staff meet at Galaxy Cafe to hear resident's suggestions.

2. Celebrate 22 years of Pluckers
Pluckers celebrates its 22nd anniversary this week with daily specials and events. The celebration wraps up Saturday night on National Wing Day. Thursday’s specials include $3 fried cheese, $6 Pluckers nachos, $5 34-ounce mugs of Dos XX and a '90s-themed Pluck Hunt.

3. Catch live music at Oskar Blues Brewery
Local music nonprofit Black Fret will host live music at the brewery Thursday night. Local bands Cowboy Diplomacy and BLXPLTN will provide the music. Cowboy Diplomacy blends indie rock with southern blues while BLXPLTN is electro-punk music project.

Purple Martins Hundreds of thousands of Purple Martins “swirl” in the skies in and around the roosting site.[/caption]

4. Attend a Purple Martin Party at Texas Land & Cattle
This will be the final weekend Austin residents can watch hundreds of thousands of Purple Martins near the Texas Land & Cattle roosting site. Eat at the restaurant while visiting the roosting site and receive a free appetizer. Habesha, the Ethiopian restaurant north of Texas Land & Cattle, also offers free dessert to any party that dines there before or after the watch party. 8-9:30 p.m. Also on Saturday.

5. Pretend it’s the '90s at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park
SiriusXM presents the “I Love the ‘90s – The Party Continues” tour at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. Performers include '90s greatest hit-makers TLC, Blackstreet, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath and Rob Base.

6. Check out Northwest Austin artists’ art
The NW ATX Artists’ Market stations at the 4th Tap Brewing Co-op. The market curates vintage, handmade, artisan and craft goods from local northwest Austin vendors. Local artists include Esteban Garza Art, JENetics Design and Modern Alchemy.

7. Watch the UFC 214 match at Fast Eddies
Fast Eddies locations around Austin host watch parties of the Cormier vs. Jones 2 UFC match Saturday night. The bar offers drinks and pool while watching the mixed martial arts event on pay-per-view.

8. See DIIV at the Mohawk downtown
North Austin’s Oskar Blues Brewery co-hosts the Beer Soaked Bash at the Mohawk Saturday night. Performers include DIIV, Curtis Roush of the Bright Light Social Hour and Hidden Ritual. The venue has new 16 oz cans of Dale’s Pale Ale on special all night.

9. Celebrate National Mutt Day with Congress Avenue Kayaks
To celebrate the holiday, Congress Avenue Kayaks donates all bandana sale proceeds to Emancipet, a nonprofit aiming to make spay, neuter and veterinary care affordable for all pet owners. The first 10 dogs to bring their humans for stand-up paddleboard and kayak rentals receive a free bandana.

10. Watch the new Game of Thrones episode at the Goodnight
Every Sunday the Goodnight hosts a Game of Thrones watch party. The restaurant concocts Game of Thrones-themed cocktails and food specials, including The Red Wedding (Deep Eddy Ruby Red, Campari, orange juice and cranberry juice) and Dothraki hot wings (wings with pineapple Thai chili sauce).
