A portion of Braker Lane is undergoing partial closures at the end of June and will face full closure July 7-12 as crews work on CapMetro's rail track.

What’s happening?

The section of Braker Lane at the rail tracks just east of Burnet Road is undergoing partial closures through the end of June as crews work on CapMetro’s rail line.

Full closures will go into effect July 7-12, rerouting vehicle traffic to Kramer Lane, Rutland Drive, Burnet Road and Metric Boulevard, according to a news release from Austin Transportation and Public Works Department.

Bicyclists, pedestrians and local traffic will still be able to travel through the area during the partial and full closures. Austin officials caution drivers to be aware of potential delays in the area while work is being completed.

Also of note

As a result of the work being completed, CapMetro rail service will be suspended July 5-14. Alternative services to downtown are offered on certain days from rail stations, including bus routes from Leander and several stops around Austin.

For a full list of available alternative routes, visit CapMetro’s website. Special rail service will resume for the Q2 Stadium soccer game July 15, according to CapMetro.

The cause

Work being completed will improve service and increase the frequency of CapMetro trains, according to the news release. The closure is also due to continued work on McKalla Station, which is scheduled to be complete by 2024.
