The Children's Center of Austin team celebrated its 25th year of providing early education and child care in March.

The big picture

Since 1999, the locally owned and family-operated preschool and child care facility has grown to offer a range of early education programs with individualized curricula, after-school programs and more.

"We have overcome pandemic challenges and achieved significant milestones," said Ashley DiLorenzo, head of schools for the Children's Center of Austin. "We take pride in our journey and have strived to provide the highest quality of curriculum, experiences and child care to thousands of families in Austin."

Two campuses are available in the Austin area, and both feature controlled access in and out of the facility, separate classrooms and shaded playgrounds as well as areas for art, swimming and other extracurricular activities, according to the website.

DiLorenzo said the curriculum at CCOA is developmentally based on each child's needs, and the staff works to encourage curiosity and exploration.

What else?

CCOA also offers after-school programs for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, where they are given a healthy snack and opportunities to do homework, spend time in the art studio, got to the gym, participate in STEM-based activities and more.

Transportation for the after-school programs is available from the following schools to CCOA:

Northwest Austin:

  • River Place Elementary
  • Hill Elementary
  • Steiner Ranch Elementary
  • Highland Park Elementary

Westlake:

  • Barton Creek Elementary
  • Bridge Point Elementary
  • Valley View Elementary
One more thing

Another program available at CCOA is a monthly community engagement activity, where children learn the importance of charity through donation drives, field trips to local nonprofits and more.

According to the CCOA website, the goal of the community engagement program is to teach empathy, offer hands-on learning and demonstrate that children of any age can make a difference in their community.
