Round Rock | Pflugerville | Hutto EditorA recent city survey ranks traffic concerns as the issue residents would most like to see the city of Pflugerville address.
I met with city leaders to ask what was being done about traffic tie-ups. The answer was “a lot.”
Our front-page story in this edition takes a look at many of the projects, most of which are on track and on budget, which City Manager Brandon Wade said is typical for the city of Pflugerville engineering staff.
The main focus is improving east-west traffic flow, especially important as the city grows in that direction. With large retail projects coming in, such as Living Spaces, Costco and the new Baylor White & Scott Medical Center, the city’s roads and the patience of residents will be tested early and often.
And more housing is coming with the growth. Wade said Pflugerville could reach a maximum population of 250,000-275,000 residents in possibly 30 years. Hutto projects an estimated population of 215,000. With Round Rock at 130,000 and growing, traffic woes may not seem so bad today.
