Amazon.com Inc. has opened a studio in its corporate office at The Domain to support its Lumberyard video game software engine, a company spokesperson confirmed today.

"Our team is still growing, and today we’re excited to announce that Lumberyard has opened a new office in Austin, one of the long-standing centers of gravity for great game development talent and innovation in community-driven games," said J.C. Connors, a senior leader for Amazon Lumberyard, in an online post Tuesday on the company's GameDev Blog. "We believe Austin is a perfect location for us to continue our quest to help game developers build the community-driven games that push both engine and cloud technology."

The Seattle-based online retailer opened its corporate office at 11501 Alterra Parkway, Austin in Northwest Austin in August 2015.

After several years of development, Amazon Lumberyard launched in February as a free software engine for video game developers. It offers integration with Amazon Web Services and Twitch, the company's video-game focused live video streaming platform.
