There will be a runoff election between Paul Slechta and Christian Ross on Dec. 8 for Grapevine City Council Place 1 as no candidate received greater than 50 percent of the vote. With all precincts reporting Slechta received 47.13 percent, Ross captured 25.99 percent followed by Marc Blum with 18.16 percent and Lee Derr with 8.72 percent of the vote. The runoff election is slated for Dec. 8. "Melanie and I are so humbled by the support we have received in the past few whirlwind weeks," Ross said. "[From] the donors, volunteers and most importantly the voters who put faith in me. There is more work to do, and we are taking our message of a fresh choice and new choice from Park Boulevard to Parr Park and everywhere in between." "I was so excited to see how many people voted in this election," Slechta said. "It was a large turnout. It was a clean campaign, and we had four great candidates that wanted to run and serve our great city. I think that says a lot about our citizens and our city. I am looking forward to reaching out to more people over this next month and letting them know what I am about. I'm excited about the December election, and hopefully I'll win." Results are unofficial until canvassed.
