The Frisco Economic Development Corp. board approved improvements to Toyota Stadium during its Sept. 24 meeting.
The vote is the third of four needed to finalize the requested improvements.
FC Dallas, which leases Toyota Stadium from the city, requested an amended lease agreement to allow for stadium improvements. The improvements will make room for the National Soccer Hall of Fame and accommodate the needs of Frisco ISD and the NCAA, which hosts its national football championship game at the stadium every year.
The project is expected to cost $39 million. Because the agreement calls for funding from the city of Frisco, the Community Development Corp., FEDC and FISD, each entity must approve the project. The FISD board of trustees is the last board that will vote on the improvements.
