Northwest Austin is the location of a new
Total Wine & More location that opened at 10 a.m. Sept. 17 in the Lakeline Mall Plaza at 11066 Pecan Park, Ste. 117.
The 31,000-square-foot store occupies the former Toys "R" Us location and includes walk-in wine and beer coolers, demonstration areas and tasting stations. Store co-owner David Trone said the new location also has the Potomac, Maryland-based chain’s newer interior features, such as digital signs and displays as well as a redesigned beverage tasting area.
“Providing the best selection and prices, while creating a one-of-a-kind shopping experience for the customer, is our number-one priority,” Trone said in a statement.
The Sept. 17 grand opening event included complimentary beverage tastings and giveaways of wine glasses to the first 200 people to enter the store after 10 a.m.
The store also includes classroom space that can be used for the store’s beverage classes and can also be rented for use by nonprofit groups, Ed Cooper, Total Wine & More vice president of public affairs and community relations,
said in May.
Cooper said Total Wine stores have about 8,000 types of wine, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers.
An Austin expansion was a natural next step for the beverage retailer, Cooper said.
“[In Austin,] the demographics for wine consumption [and] fine wine lovers, craft beer lovers and artisanal spirits lovers are off the charts,” he said.
Total Wine & More is the retailer’s tenth location in Texas and second location in the Austin area.
The chain’s first Austin-area store opened May 21 at 5601 Brodie Lane in Sunset Valley.
