Greg AbbottGov. Greg Abbott will make a visit to The Woodlands Sept. 16. The Woodlands residents and attorneys Jim and Nelda Luce Blair will host a reception for Abbott at their Grogan’s Mill home. Abbott’s Deputy Press Secretary Cait Meisenheimer said the governor is visiting The Woodlands to raise campaign funds. Meisenheimer said Abbott will discuss his policies and accomplishments since he has taken office, particularly as they relate to his “Bicentennial Blueprint,” a list of plans the governor intends to accomplish during his term. “The Bicentennial Blueprint is a handful of things he set out to accomplish—early education, higher education research initiatives to devote more money to college research, border security, transportation,” Meisenheimer said. Abbott, the 48th governor of Texas, took office in January. The fundraiser, which is open to the public, includes a 5:30 p.m. VIP reception for co-hosts and patrons and a 6 p.m. general reception. Prices to attend range from $300 to $10,000. For more information and to register to attend the event, call 512-477-2002. Abbott is visiting The Woodlands because Meisenheimer said he has a large group of advocates in the area, said. “I know we have a lot of supporters in The Woodlands,” she said.
