Pearland ISD employees Kelly Holt, Dana Miles and Pam Wilson have been appointed to new administrative positions within the school district.
The PISD board of trustees approved the new appointments during a May 19 meeting after a committee of teachers, parents and district administrators interviewed internal and external candidates.
Wilson will serve as the new executive director of the district’s special programs department. She previously served in several positions within PISD, including as assistant principal and principal of Pearland Junior High West.
“Pam Wilson is a successful former principal with vision, high expectations and good relationships,” Deputy Superintendent Nan Weimer said. “She is a collaborative leader who believes in teamwork and will be an asset in supporting campuses and families.”
Holt, who has eight years of experience with Dawson High School, will serve as the new principal of DHS. She has a master’s degree in instructional technology, and has served as interim principal of DHS since January.
Weimer said Holt has a passion for the school and its traditions, and her drive is student success.
“I want to build a campus where teachers know they are valued and feel part of a team,” Holt said. “I want my students and staff to know I care about each of them.”
Dana Miles was appointed as the new principal of Pearland Junior High West.
Miles has served as principal of Rogers Middle School for the past five years, and she also has a master’s degree in educational leadership.
She was also recognized as the PISD Elementary Principal of the Year in 2013 and said she has a passion for inspiring her staff to work hard and show students how their daily work can determine their future.
“Dana Miles is the best fit for Pearland Junior High West because of her many years as a successful principal in Pearland,” said Sonia Serrano, senior assistant superintendent for intermediate education. “She is child-centered, passionate about education and embraces the grit philosophy for herself as well as her students and staff.”
The three women boast more than 55 years of combined experience in the field of education.
“I enjoy empowering staff and students to value their contributions to something bigger than just the right here and right now,” Miles said.
