ResCare2015-013 The Collin College Respiratory Care Program prepares students to treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory therapists work with patients of all ages and can be employed in various healthcare settings.[/caption] Collin College’s Respiratory Care Program was recognized last month for the third year in a row with a Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. The college is just one of six programs in Texas to receive this honor. CoARC presents the award to programs that have a RRT credentialing success of 90 percent or higher and meet or exceed the CoARC’s thresholds for Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialing success, attrition and positive job placement. “The team of faculty, staff and students, under the leadership of Director Araceli Solis, are to be congratulated for this outstanding achievement and for their commitment to standards of excellence,” said Dr. Sherry Schumann, vice president and provost at the Central Park Campus, in a news release.To continue to receive this honor solidifies the Collin College Respiratory Care program as a leader in quality education for the respiratory care field.” Last year, Collin College respiratory students had a 100 percent credentialing success rate for both the Certified Respiratory Therapist exam and the RRT exam, as well as a 94 percent job placement rate. “To receive this award three years in a row speaks volumes on what a great team we have,” Respiratory Care Program Director Araceli Solis said in the release. “Our outstanding instructors provide quality education to students who go above and beyond to achieve success."
