In a statement, club owner and managing partner Michael Hitchcock said McKinney is a special place. He and his wife, Jamie Hitchcock, live and work in McKinney where they own the ProRel Soccer Shop.

“McKinney is known for its various events and celebrations, and we plan to play in a historic stadium in the historic district to celebrate the uniqueness of McKinney on game days,” Hitchcock said. “The community selected a fun brand that is distinctive and fitting for this community-based club, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring McKinney together through soccer.”

In case you missed it

The Historic McKinney Soccer Group debuted branding for the new team and launched a merchandise shop in October. The branding was determined by more than 1,000 local soccer fans who voted for their favorite team name and logo.

The team is planning to recruit a head coach, two assistant couches and a roster of 30 players, Hitchcock said in October.
