Original post:

The final two lane closures on southbound MoPac are scheduled for April 20 and 23 to complete the installation of the bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

Starting at 8 p.m. April 20 the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will close the center and right lanes of southbound MoPac between Parmer and Braker lanes as well as the southbound frontage road and turnaround lanes. Between 9-10 p.m. all southbound MoPac lanes will close so crews can move the second section of the new bridge to the center of MoPac near Parmer Lane.

The third and final piece of bridge will be moved starting at 8 p.m. April 23. Each of the three sections of the bridge are 525 feet long. Crews installed the first section of bridge April 9.

This bridge will be part of bike and pedestrian path connecting the North Walnut Creek Trail to Capital of Texas Highway near the Arboretum. The path is part of the 11-mile MoPac Improvement Project to add one toll lane in each direction on MoPac between Parmer Lane and Lady Bird Lake. Construction on the MoPac project is slated to conclude in late 2015.
