The Collin County Commissioners Court voted Feb. 9 to add about 20 acres of land to Frisco's tax increment reinvestment zone No. 1. The land added to the TIRZ contains the Dallas Cowboys multiuse events facility and two practice fields. The city also added several financing projects, including facility improvements within the zone, that will be funded through TIRZ No. 1 tax revenue. A TIRZ is a designated area local governments use to pay for needed infrastructure or other projects in the zone through the tax revenue generated by the zone's taxing units. Tax revenue from TIRZ No. 1 has been reinvested into the zone in the past to pay for projects such as street improvements and facility construction. TIRZ No. 1 currently includes facilities such as Stonebriar Centre, Toyota Stadium and Dr Pepper Ballpark.
