Frisco ISD trustee John Classe is seeking re-election to the Place 3 board seat in the May 9 election.
Classe was appointed in June to temporarily fill the position vacated by Dan Mossakowski, who resigned, until the date of the next government-set special election date that coincided with a regular election. The special election for Place 3 will be held in conjunction with the regular election for places 6 and 7, which are both three-year terms.
"Yes, this could mean running twice in twelve months," Classe said in a news release. He said he was aware of the situation before he accepted the appointment.
"My children have always attended Frisco schools," he said. "My home is in Frisco ISD. I am a resident and a parent here and if our school district needs me, I'll serve in whatever capacity I am able."
Classe said his experience as an appointed official on several Frisco boards has given him insight about how zoning, land use, public-private partnerships, low tax rates and residential development interacts with education.
"There are a lot of moving parts, so I'm pleased to have strong community relationships on which I can rely to bolster FISD's efficient cooperation with the cities and organizations we serve," he said.
Classe is a Certified Financial Planner professional and has worked at Bell Financial Group in Frisco since 2002. He holds a bachelor of arts in economics and a minor in computer science from Vanderbilt University.
Classe serves on the FISD board committees for budget, communications and technology. He is a graduate of Leadership Frisco Class XVI, and has served as a board member of the Frisco Community Development Corp., a commissioner on the city of Frisco 2013 Charter Review Commission, and a member and chair of the Frisco Parks and Recreation Board.
Rick Fletcher is Classe's campaign treasurer.
Classe has launched a new website, www.jcfisd.com, to share FISD news and election news.
