Health food store opens a second location

Business is expanding for Pure Plates, a Frisco-based store that offers ready-to-eat healthy meals and supplements.

The owners opened a second location in mid-November in North Dallas. The second store at 17977 Preston Road has the same products and concept as the flagship store, co-owner Kevin Elliot said. He said he hopes to open up to three more locations in the near future.

Kevin and his wife, Marla, opened the first Pure Plates on Gaylord Parkway about two years ago. The business offers meals that are low-calorie, low-sodium, low-carb and gluten-free. Kevin said the store prides itself on being both convenient and healthy.

Another change to the store is the new 30-day meal plan it offers. Customers can buy a customized meal plan based on his or her goal weight.

Store employees will customize a plan based on how many calories a customer burns in a day, Kevin said.

"It's sustainable," he said. "We're not giving you a diet pill. We're not giving you an injection. We're not giving you a hormone treatment. It's consuming good, healthy food."

Marla said the community has always welcomed the store.

"There are a lot of entrepreneurs in Frisco, which I didn't realize until we became one," she said. "They're all very supportive of each other."
