The city of Frisco is providing free Christmas tree recycling for its residents, according to the city's Environmental Services division.
Live trees will be made into compost and mulch.
The city has some specific guidelines for tree pickup:
Put trees at edge of property on regular trash/recycling collection day at least 3 feet from trash carts.
Remove any wiring or lights, tinsel, ornaments or other decorations.
Cut trees more than 5 feet tall into sections no more than 4 feet in length or 60 pounds each.
Do not cover the tree with a plastic bag—it will not be picked up if it is covered.
Flocked trees—trees that have been sprayed to look like they are covered in snow—are not accepted because the chemical prevents composting of the tree. The city's trash collector will collect flocked trees during free monthly bulk pickup. Call 972-292-5900 to arrange pickup.
Those wanting to drop their live tree off can do so at the Environmental Services self-serve drop off, 6616 Walnut St. from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The same guidelines for curbside tree pickup apply to trees being dropped off.
