Sheri Gallo is the frontrunner in the race for Austin City Council's District 10 seat with 5,749 of votes or 54.9 percent, according to early voting results. Her opponent, Mandy Dealey has 4,715 votes, or 45.06 percent of votes.

Gallo said her top priorities include city spending, traffic and mobility, affordability and water capacity for future growth.

None of the candidates for District 4 received 50 percent or more of the votes in the November election, which resulted in a runoff election between the two leading candidates in the race, Dealey and Gallo. Other candidates who vied for the District 10 seat Nov. 4 were Margie Burciaga, Tina Cannon, Matt Lamon, Jason Meeker, Robert Thomas and Bill Worsham.

This election marks the first time in Austin's history voters can choose City Council members from 10 geographic districts. Residents can only vote for candidates from their district, and the mayor is still elected at-large, meaning anyone can vote for the mayor.

After the new City Council is established, five council members will be randomly selected to serve initial two-year terms, and five will serve initial four-year terms. The initial terms allow future council elections to be held every two years. Future council terms will last four years.

District 10 comprises about 81,000 residents in neighborhoods including Great Hills, Jester Estates, Northwest Hills, Rosedale, Spicewood and Tarrytown.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
