A Day of the Dead–themed tequila festival Nov. 1 at Casa Chapala in North Austin will include food, tequila, mezcal and sotol tastings.

The fifth annual festival, which includes live entertainment and an after party, is hosted at Casa Chapala's new North Austin location, 9041 Research Blvd., Ste. 100. Casa Chapala has hosted the festival every year since its inception, and proceeds will benefit Austin Pets Alive!.

During the VIP event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., attendees can learn about the history, trends and production of agave, the main ingredient in producing tequila. VIP attendees may enjoy a flight tasting, appetizers and prizes.

From 7–10 p.m, general admission participants can sample appetizers, tequila, mezcal, sotol and other agave spirits. Included in the ticket price for general admission, which starts at $40, participants receive 10 tastings, a gift bag, a snifter glass and more.

The Mauricio Callejas Band provides live music, and Austin Samba School performs a Day of the Dead dance. Casa Chapala and its neighbors, Japanese restaurant Mikado and Indian restaurant Madras Pavilion, will offer other food to be paired during the tastings.
