The new Southlake recreation center now has a name: The Marq.

In August the Willow St. Agency, an advertising company, brought two sets of names to City Council for consideration. At that time the council chose to table discussion so more names could be discussed.

At the Oct. 7 council meeting Willow St. Agency addressed the council as to how it conducted research in order to develop two sets of relevant names for consideration.

After hearing that a great deal of time and thought went into developing the names, the council moved to bring the item back for final discussions.

At the Oct. 21 meeting the council made its final decision: The entire complex will be called The Marq. The events rooms and senior center will be called Legends Hall. The athletic and recreation portion will be called Champions Club, and the 2,500-seat outdoor amphitheater will be called Aria.

The names passed without discussion from the council; no members of the public spoke on the item.
