Spotlight - Once & Again Books

The Woodlands-area customers can buy and sell new and used books at Once & Again Books. The store has been open at its location for about nine years and has been in The Woodlands for 11 years, Manager Lauren Flores said.

"We are about 20 percent new books and 80 percent used," Flores said. "It is primarily store credit that we offer [for used books], but we do offer cash on required reading school books or newly released books."

The store's peak periods are when area students are returning to school, during the summer, and during the Christmas holiday break, Flores said.

"We try to keep all the books that are needed for the schools in stock," Flores said. "Mystery and romance are also very popular. We also have a lot of Christian fiction and Christian living books."

The store also sells books online through the Amazon, Alibris and AbeBooks websites, Flores said.

Spotlight - Tandoory Taco

Since opening in July 2013, Tandoory Taco has made traditional Indian food more accessible to those not familiar with the cuisine, Catering Manager

Robert Hegwood said.

"We provide a unique type of food," Hegwood said. "We have got tacos on corn tortilla, flour tortilla, [and] naan bread. You can't really find Indian food to go like this anywhere else in the city."

The kitchen staff at Tandoory Taco hails from southern India, which ensures an authentic experience, Hegwood said.

"We actually have Indians cooking the food," Hegwood said. "They are from India, they have grown up eating this food and they cook it to taste. So they are actually cooking food they grew up with—[our cooks] are from Tamil [Nadu]—it is southern Indian cuisine."

Hegwood said Tandoory Taco is also expanding its catering efforts to reach more customers in The Woodlands area.

"We are trying to make catering a little bit more affordable," Hegwood said. "We try to go for businesses, but it seems that it is families that order catering from us for parties at home."
