A bigger share of Butler Pitch and Putt's revenue could go to Austin in the near future.
City Council passed a resolution Aug. 28 to negotiate with the Kinser family, operators of the par-3 golf course, as to how much more of the business's revenue should go to the city other than what is already agreed upon.
The business has been owned and operated by the family for more than 50 years, and the Kinsers wish to continue doing so. Butler Pitch and Putt's contract with the city has not been reviewed since the business first opened, the city said. The Pitch and Putt website said the business has been open since 1949.
Per the resolution, plans must be negotiated between the city and Kinser family to improve landscaping on the grounds and to provide Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant accessibility to the facility's clubhouse.
Creating new youth programming and additional concessions will also be considered as will removing obstacles for pedestrians and bicyclists to gain access to the golf course.
