Dell Children's Medical Center is about to receive a donation from a new bar and entertainment venue opening at The Domain.

Punch Bowl Social will have its grand opening event Aug. 23 with 100 percent of the proceeds raised that day going toward the center, according to a news release.

"It will go to our area of greatest need here at Dell Children's and that can be anything from a piece of equipment that we need or a program that we need," said Armando Zambrano, director of Dell Children's foundation.

PBS offers hand crafted cocktails including several punch bowls that serve multiple people. One punch bowl called the shrubbery features Skyy moscato vodka, watermelon shrub, cardamom syrup and a floater of red wine.

The venue also will offer bowling, darts, table tennis and 1980s videogames among other activities in the 21,000-square-foot facility located at 11310 Domain Drive, Ste. 100.

Robert Thompson, who opened Buffalo Billiards on Sixth Street in 1998 but has since sold it, is CEO and founder of Punch Bowl Social.

"I lived in Austin for several years and still vacation here with my family," Thompson said in a news release. When the opportunity presented itself to open Punch Bowl Social in the wildly successful Domain, I jumped at the chance to be part of Austin again. We are the sum of our experiences in life. My time in Austin influenced the PBS concept creation and is woven into its fabric."

The event begins at 7 p.m. with an entry fee of $10. Austin band The Tontons will have a live performance during the grand opening. For more information, visit www.punchbowlsocial.com.
