The Frisco City Council on Aug. 5—its first council meeting in about a month—is set to discuss options for smoking and tobacco use in public parks.

On the agenda is for the Council to consider and act on an ordinance establishing regulations to either "prohibit smoking in parks or to prohibit the possession of any form of tobacco products in parks."

The issue of smoking in public parks came about when the city in February banned the use of e-cigarettes to minors and where smoking is not allowed.

Both versions of the proposed smoking ban were prepared by the city attorney's office for Council perusal. The language of both ordinances can be found combined in one document here.

In other business the council will also:

Consider expanding Reinvestment Zone Number One to include the Cowboys/public multipurpose event center, practice fields and subsequent parking structures and infrastructure for the development on the northwest corner of Warren Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway.

Consider creating a Reinvestment Zone Number Five to assist with paying for the public parking and area road enhancement/expansion around the Cowboys/public multipurpose event center.

Discuss the Collin County Area Regional Transit public transportation service including its termination in Collin County scheduled in September and the possibility of continuing the service if Frisco were to decide to contract directly with a transit provider.

Adopt the FY 2015 Certified Appraisal Roll.
