The race for State Senator in District 10 could be headed for a run-off, but with 75 of 357 precincts reporting, Konni Burton leads Mark Shelton by less than 10 percentage points in the Republican race.

In the crowded Republican race featuring five candidates, Burton leads Shelton by an unofficial count of 44.5 percent to 35 percent, as of about 9:40 p.m.

Tony Pompa was third with 11.7 percent, Mark Skinner was behind him with 5.5 percent and Jon Schweitzer had 3.2 percent of the votes.

With just 21 percent of precincts reporting before 10 p.m., there is still a ways to go. A run-off could occur if no candidate garners more than 50 percent of the vote.

A run-off election would be held May 27.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
