Williamson County officials announced nighttime I-35 lane closures on Jan. 21 and 2730 as frontage road construction continues between Leander Road and University Avenue.
According to a news release, the right lane of northbound I-35 will be closed from 8 p.m. Jan. 21 to 6 a.m. Jan. 22 for workers to remove light poles from the bridge over the San Gabriel River. Lane closures will begin at Westinghouse Road and end at University Avenue, and include the Leander Road exit ramp.
The same lanes will be closed 8 p.m.6 a.m. from Jan. 2730 while bridge beams for the new frontage road bridge are set, according to the release. Laneswill be closed from Inner Loop to University Avenue as well asthe Leander Road entrance ramp closed.
Connie Watson, public affairs manager for Williamson County, said the Leander Road exit ramp will still allow drivers to access northbound I-35, but will be unavailable for exiting to University Avenue. Drivers will be able to exit at Williams Drive and turn around to access University Avenue, she said.
We are very excited that this project has reached a half-way point with the frontage road bridge beams being placed, Williamson County Commissioner Valerie Covey said in a statement. We are on track for this project to be completed by the end of 2014, and it remains on budget.
