Residents in Georgetown and Williamson County have a few choices on what to do with their live Christmas trees once the decorations are removed.

The city of Georgetown offers two options for recycling trees. The trees may be left on the curb for collection during regular yard trimmings pickup days, which are listed at www.recycle.georgetown.org. Jan. 10 is the last day seasonal yard trimmings will be collected.

Georgetown residents may also drop off their trees at the city of Georgetown Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive between Dec. 26 and Jan. 31 at no charge. Normal fees apply to other items brought to the collection station. The station will be closed Jan. 1, but it will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. otherwise.

More information may be found by calling Texas Disposal Systems at 512-930-1715.

Williamson County residents also have the option to bring their live, undecorated trees to the Williamson County Landfill, 600 Landfill Road, Hutto, for recycling between Dec. 26 and Jan. 4 for free mulching. Hours for Christmas tree recycling are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m.-noon. Call the landfill at 512-759-8881 for more information.
