Travis County Commissioners Court is seeking applications through Nov. 15 for an open seat on the Central Health Board of Managers.

Central Heath is Travis County's health care district for the underinsured and uninsured population. Its board of managers is composed of nine volunteers who have backgrounds in career fields such as medical care, social service, law, government and private business.

Deece Eckstein, intergovernmental relations officer for Travis County, said the application could take about two hours to complete.

"What we are looking for is bright and dynamic leaders," Eckstein said. "This is a very important board. People have to give a lot of time to it so we are looking for people who are willing to make that time commitment and we're looking for people who have a broad, basic knowledge of [and experience with] health care in our community."

In addition to the application, a notarized conflict of interest statement is required and assesses whether the applicant or someone in the applicant's family conducts business with Central Health or may have a conflict of interest by serving on the board, he said.

Board members serve four-year appointments. The term of the newly appointed member begins Jan. 1, 2014, and ends Dec. 31, 2017.

Applicants must include a resume, descriptions of employment history, education and training, participation in public service and knowledge about health and human services.
