Recent rainfall persuaded Williamson County Commissioners to lift the burn ban for unincorporated areas of the county at their July 16 meeting with the stipulation that the item be reconsidered at the July 23 meeting.
Despite the lift of the ban, outdoor burning will not be allowed during Critical Fire Danger Days and Red Flag Warning Days, according to a Williamson County news release. The current fire danger can be found on the Texas Forest Service website under the fire danger/drought tab on the left side of the page.
Residents are also encouraged to contact the fire department before conducting a controlled burn because some departments may require a burn permit. Residents are also asked to report a controlled burn to Williamson County Communications at 512-943-1389 for information on any burning restrictions in place, according to the release.
