The Cedar Park Parks and Recreation Department will host a second public design workshop June 19 to give adventure cyclists a chance to help create a custom bike park facility, according to a June 6 city news release.
The park is planned to open within a city park in mid- or late 2014 depending on funding and approval, said Jennie Huerta, Cedar Park media and communications manager.
"The city is looking at several different possibilities for a location and [is] certainly looking to incorporate public ideas and input into the plan," Huerta said.
According to the news release, park plans will be discussed with Mike McIntyre, a landscape and bike architect from Action Sport Design, an international consulting firm specializing in planning, design, engineering and construction services for public and private action sports environments.
The workshop will be held in the multipurpose room in Building 3 of the City Hall campus, 450 Cypress Creek Road, from 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Discussion during the workshop will focus on the design process and the type and style of bike park. The workshop is a chance for Cedar Park residents to show support, voice opinions and speak with designers of the custom bike park facility, according to the news release.
Residents who are unable to attend and are interested in providing input on the project can visit ASD's website at www.actionsportdesign.com and use the username "cedarpark" and the password "biketx."
Huerta said a third public workshop will follow, but a time and date have not been set.
