The Hutto Economic Development Corp. announced the hiring of Joey Grisham as its new president and CEO on April 24.

Grisham will take over May 28 for former Executive Director Scott Martinez, who left at the beginning of the year.

Grisham most recently worked as director of Lake Grandbury's EDC and has also served in Keller, Texas, and in Tupelo and Marion County in Mississippi. He has also worked on economic development projects in Alabma, Arizona, Indiana, Tennessee, Wisconsin and throughout Texas as an independent consultant, a Hutto EDC news release said.

"I am honored to accept this position and appreciate the EDC for providing me with this wonderful opportunity—my family and I are elated to become a part of the Hutto family and Hippo Nation," Grisham said in the release. "My first objective is to meet all community stakeholders and local businesses and fully understand what we have to offer. What attracted me to Hutto was community leadership, family environment and proximity to one of the hottest markets in America."

The EDC worked with Strategic Government Resources, a recruitment firm out of Keller, to fill the position. Grisham was the only finalist, and Hutto EDC Board Chairman Mario Perez said Grisham was chosen based on his background and experience.

"Hutto is the fastest-growing city in the State of Texas, and Grisham brings a wealth of information and resources to maintain and continue the city's growth," Perez said. "Grisham's personality is a great fit for the community."
