According to unofficial voting day results, incumbent James Wilson won in the Republican primary election for Williamson County sheriff on May 29.
With all precincts reporting, preliminary voting totals showed Wilson with 77.30 percent and challenger Tony Trumps with 22.70 percent of a total of 25,514 votes.
Wilson was elected Williamson County sheriff in 2004, following more than 33 years in law enforcement with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
"I thank the voters of Williamson County for being supportive," Wilson said.
Trumps worked in the Houston Police Department and held several different positions, including patrol officer, district crime scene investigator and narcotics division officer. He retired from the department and later moved to Sun City in 2005.
