The WilCo Wellness Alliance will host a bike-to-work event for residents of Georgetown and surrounding communities May 18.
A part of the Williamson County and Cities Health District, the WilCo Wellness Alliance is a coalition of various health agencies and other entities.
Registration sites will be open from 7:30–10 a.m. at the Williamson County Courthouse, 710 Main St., and at the intersection of Dawn Drive and River Bend Drive.
At the registration sites, participants can fill out a registration form and a short survey that estimates cycling distance to work, bicycle safety, access to bike routes and parking, and the usability of parks and trails.
Marcus Cooper, WCCHD communications and marketing director, said the WilCo Wellness Alliance will use the information for future projects.
"We're hoping to use this information in the future to promote green commuting—using your bike to get to work—and also to hopefully work with the local governments to create safer biking pathways, trails and street markings," he said.
The survey is also available online and open for residents throughout the county who may not be able to attend the event.
Central Texas Powersports will also perform free bike inspections.
