New Braunfels ISD officials have announced the district is continuing to monitor local weather conditions to ensure schools can reopen Feb. 2.

The National Weather Service is reporting slightly warmer temperatures in the forecast that are above freezing. NBISD officials said if the projected forecast does not change, they anticipate being able to open all schools at their normal start times.

According to district officials, staff will drive roadways beginning at 3 a.m. Feb. 2 to ensure roads are safe for travel. Regardless of the decision, district officials said they will communicate with parents by 5:15 a.m. based on road conditions.

“Once again, we will stress that if you do not feel like you can make it safely to your destination in the morning, please stay home,” NBISD officials said in a statement.

Parents and staff will be notified of any weather updates through ParentSquare, a posted notice on www.nbisd.org and the district’s social media accounts.
