The city of New Braunfels is partnering with the New Braunfels Downtown Association for Wassailfest 2022. The annual event is scheduled to take place Dec. 1 in downtown New Braunfels, beginning at 6 p.m. with the official Wassail Toast from New Braunfels Mayor Rusty Brockman.

This year’s event will feature the traditional Wassailstops and nonprofit food vendors, shopping specials and extended hours at downtown businesses. Various entertainment and activities will also be held at the Main Plaza bandstand, featuring several local singing groups projecting holiday melodies across downtown.

From 6:05-6:25 p.m. the Freiheit Elementary School Choir will take the stage followed by the Goodwin Frazier Elementary School Choir from 6:30-6:50 p.m. The Oak Creek Elementary School Choir will perform from 6:55-7:15 p.m., and the Smithson Valley High School Choir will sing from 7:20-7:40 p.m. The Oak Run Middle School Choir will perform their holiday melodies from 7:45-8:05 p.m. with the final performance of the night by the New Braunfels High School Choir occurring from 8:10-8:30 p.m.

“Wassailfest is an iconic local event that brings the community together to celebrate the holiday season in our beautiful and historic downtown,” Brockman said. “Just like a good cup of wassail, the community spirit of gathering together and helping local nonprofit agencies warms the soul, and we hope residents and visitors find their way downtown for this festive event.”

Several street closures around downtown will affect driving routes from 4-11 p.m., including all of Main Plaza; Seguin Avenue from Mill Street to Coll Street,;San Antonio Street from South Academy Avenue to South Gilbert Avenue; and Castell Avenue from Mill Street to the alley behind the Antique Mall. The city of New Braunfels asks residents to remove their vehicles from these areas prior to 4 p.m.
