Dr. Charls Lano of Hill Country Ear, Nose & Throat described this year as a particularly active allergy season. He answers some questions about Central Texas Allergies and what residents can do about them.
When is allergy season?
Allergy season is year-round. Central Texas’ [mild climate] is a haven for pollinating plants and molds.
Why do allergies seem more active this year?
We’ve had plenty of rain, so a lot of the trees are real healthy and use the opportunity to maximize reproduction, so they’re cranking out lots of pollen.
What are some remedies?
Stay in on the windiest and driest days, or take [over-the-counter treatments] before you go outdoors. If things still aren’t alleviated, check with your doctor and look at getting allergy tests and shots and advanced treatments.
