From June 6-13, Resolute Health Hospital will host the Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive to benefit the New Braunfels Food Bank, according to a press release.

Hospital staff will bring boxes of healthy cereal to the hospital in an effort to provide area children and adults with a healthy breakfast during the summer months, according to the release.

“At Resolute Health Hospital, we understand the health issues children face from hunger and poor nutrition,” Mark Bernard, chief executive officer of Resolute Health Hospital, said in the release. “The past two years have been particularly devastating for families struggling with hunger, as the pandemic and supply chain issues have increased food insecurity for many families.”

Many local families have come to rely on food banks and other food programs to access healthy meals, Bernard said, and the NBFB often needs additional donations in the summer when children may not be able to rely on school for breakfast.

Individuals who wish to participate in the cereal drive can drop off donations in the lobby of Resolute Health Hospital, located at 555 Creekside Crossing.
