The New Braunfels Solid Waste and Recycling division will be offering free Christmas tree drop-off and mulch pickup for residents until Jan. 13.

Live Christmas trees can be dropped off at the city recycling center located at 488 S. Castell Ave. from 8 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. According to city officials, artificial trees; flocked trees with fake snow; painted trees; and any decorations, including lights, ornaments and garland, will not be accepted. All decorations must be removed before dropping off the tree.

The trees will be turned into mulch, which will be available for pickup while supplies last during normal recycling center business hours until Jan. 13. New Braunfels residents can self-load the Christmas tree mulch, and are asked to bring shovels and containers.

Residents can also leave their natural Christmas trees on the curb on green waste collection days. Trees cannot have any decorations on them, and any trees taller than 8 feet must be cut in half, according to a news release.
