Over the last five years, the populations within New Braunfels as well as Comal and Guadalupe counties have increased, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates released Dec. 7.

In a nutshell

The population within New Braunfels’ city limits grew from 70,317 to 92,993 from 2017 to 2022, according to the American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates. Comal County grew to 165,201 residents, and Guadalupe County grew to 173,828, according to new data.

What’s new?

Along with that increase in population, the data shows household median income also increased in all three jurisdictions.


The median age in New Braunfels and both counties remained almost flat.


There was little change in the demographic makeup of New Braunfels despite the increase in the population.
